Hey guys. Been reading/watching and learning a lot over the past couple of weeks and I think I've got it all nailed down. I am coming from playing casual games on the console and sold everything last week. Now between pressure from friends at work and the need to tinker in the winter months I plan on doing a build. Here are the requirements.

Budget: Fluid, I'll shave some money when I can but I like quality stuff and can afford it.

Location: NH

Monitors: Starting with 1 but will likely expand to 3 in short order.

Gaming: Would love to play ARMA3 and looking forward to Star Wars BF, Tom Clancy's The Division, Ghost Recon Wastelands and maybe some Star Citizen.

Build from PCPartspicker:   http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PrRhQ7

I haven't decided on monitors/keyboard or mouse. Looking to hit 144MHZ reliable. Think I'll wait for 4k to drop in price a little more. I also intend to double the GPU and run them in SLI with in a couple of months.

I do plan on overclocking the CPU/GPU at conservative and reliable speeds (4200/1400).

I am begrudgingly putting the WD 1TB optical drive in. I'd prefer to run SSD exclusively. Based on the build, I'd I'll run the OS/drivers off the SSD and store the initial games on the SSD. The WD would be for overflow if needed. Or maybe I'll just scrap it and wait until I need more space.

Any critiques and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

-Chris

Your build seems fine, but a 1000W PSU seems a bit over kill, an 800w or 850 that has a good effeincientcy rating will do you fine. Also, you sure a 750d from corsair wont suit your needs? from when I last checked it was cheeper than that phantex case. EDIT: If you want to sli than that psu is fine

I was originally going to go with an 850 PSU but like you said, future plans to run a second card in SLI will gobble that thing out. As far as the case, I've been back and forth 1k times over corsair 450/750/540 then saw some pics and videos of the Phantek and just pulled the trigger.

With a second GTX 980 Ti the system will have a max draw of 730W. 850W should be more than enough to handle aging and overclocking. It's too bad that there are no decent psu around 900W.

Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive is more expensive but offers interface speeds up to 32Gb/sec rather than the 6Gb/sec of the 850 Pro ssd in the OP build. The drive should be on the market next week. If the added speed is not required/desired, save a few dollars and go with a Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
