Hi

My ancient Synolgy DS211+ (2x6TB WD Red Raid 1) is full and needs an upgrade. Since it can't be expanded, I'm going to build a new one instead of buying a new Synology box, still using Synology DSM OS.
My new build's concept looks atm like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pyByMp%E2'> :)

I'm waiting for suggestions, but these things are fixed:
  • ECC memory
  • At least quad core CPU
  • PSU has to be fully modular and Gold+
  • Motherboard has to have 6+ SATAIII ports
  • Case has to be able to accomodate 6+ 3.5" drives. (Can be smaller case than currently selected. Quiet case would still be nice.)
I live in Europe, in a tiny hole with sucky market, so getting some stuff might be a bit more complicated than others. Everything, except quad port gig network adapter, is available locally.

I picked this motherboard, because it was cheapest one with ECC memory support and 6+ SATAIII ports, I could find.
I picked this case, because it was cheapest one with 6+ 3.5" HDD slots, it looks nice and has a window. It's going to be server, but it will still going to look good  :) And manufacturer claims it's supersilent :D
At first I'm going to have 4 6TB WD Red Pro's, but it has to be expandable to accomodate at least 6 drives.
PSU could be lower wattage, but it was cheapest fully modular Gold+ PSU I could find.
SSD is for Synology Cache
USB flash drive is going to hold Xpenology DSM OS.

I guess ECC enabled server grade motherboards don't have M.2 slots... with reasonable price ?  I would rather have M.2 than SSD drive, but if it's not going to happen, then SSD is good enough.
Although our markets may differ, I'm still good with stuff that you have in your market, maybe I just didn't know to look at the right place for best and cheapest parts.
