I am looking to build a new computer. I will not be using the computer for gaming. I do however work with large data sets, run advanced analytics, and develop programs. I would like to build a small but powerful computer built in the In Win 901 case.

My list of components thus far are:

CPU: Intel i7-6700K

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI

Storage: Intel 750 Series 2.5" 400GB PCIe NVMe

I know the Intel 750 series can be plugged into M.2 slot which is located behind the motherboard, but has anyone done this before and is it a good idea?

Also, I do plan on adding a video card in the one available PCI-e slot.

Thanks for any feedback

That M.2 adapter might be a bit bulky depending on how much clearance you have behind the motherboard.

My guess is that it won't be much.

You could consider the SM951 or the 950 Pro by Samsung.

The 950 Pro is releasing in a few days so if you can wait till next week to buy it, it might be your best option.

Granted, those are good for more consumer oriented tasks.

If you intended on honestly punishing your SSD to the point where the heat sinks on the Intel 750 series actually make a difference, then you might want to consider a MicroATX build and using the PCIe version of the 750 instead.
