setup.exe not doing anything

I have had a problem with my asus q302 that the backlighting doesn't work. So i downloaded the asus atk package and tried to run the setup.exe. Nothing happened. there was a .msi setup as well so i ran that. It went through. I was then told to run hcontrol.exe to solve my backlight problem. The same thing happened. Nothing. the next day i tried installing massive since i make EDM alot, and it happened again. Why is this happening?

Wierd, it happens to me too, i click and nothing opens up, sometimes the service is running, if it is in taks manager, stop it

 

if its not.... i usually just reboot my pc and it works, i dont have any specific and absolute working awnser sorry
