Keyboard shortcut issue.

So, I am reimaging a machine for my cousin, a VIT M2400, (Venezuelan Institute of Technology) and am running into a strange issue. Everytime you hit the 'R' key it brings up the right click context menu. I'm fairly sure it is a software issue, but I don't even know how to begin diagnosing this.

 

If you have ideas or information I should find and post, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Plug in a USB keyboard. If it's a software issue, it'll likely replicate on the other keyboard too. This could obviously be caused by a short. you can access the cables by removing the keyboard. If unhooking the mouse cable fixes the issue, you it's a short in the mouse.

Okay, so it won't detect the USB keyboard, but it does detect the mouse. The left arrow key and the 'F' key both execute those functions at the same time, and the Context menu key and the r key both execute both functions at the same time.

Okay, came up with a working solution.

 

From what I can tell, I got a USB keyboard working, and it doesn't replicate the issue, so I believe this is an electrical issue.

 

I downloaded keytweak and disabled the arrow keys and the context key and now they do not type the same, but interestingly, the left arrow key still types an f and the context key still types an r. But she is not an advanced user and used the mouse for most everything, and what is important is the capacity to take notes properly. So this solution is workable at least!
