Hey all,

So, I have been reading about the steelseries 6gv2 and I am wondering, is it worth it? It is a very simple keyboard and I appreciate that, however, for a little bit more I can purchase a cooler master tkl, So, when it comes to value, what would you say is better, the 6gv2 or the a CM storm tkl. Also, if any of you have the 6gv2, how is it, and have you had any problems with it?

Thanks in advance

I have had both, and am still using the CM Storm Rapid i (brown cherry switches.) I am ashamed to say the SteelSeries is NOT rage proof as advertised, as I smoked it open handed only once and not with a bunch of force, and it was dead! The CM has taken a few swats like that without issue so far (and yes I am much better now at not doing it in the first place! ;) ) The only issue I find with the CM is sometimes the left shift key doesn't register.(not sure if its the way I type, which is most likely, but I didn't seem to have the same issue on the SS or my Deck Francium I have on another system.) The CM is backlit too which is real nice for late night gaming ;)

Both are solid options. I've opened both the 6Gv2 and a few CM boards. But the first you must ask yourself which mechanical switch. I don't know where you're from, but here in Australia, it's only available in Cherry MX Black - as far as I know. If it's only available in Cherry MX Black, then maybe it's not even the type of switch for you. Also, I'm pretty sure the 6Gv2 only comes in one layout, so consider that as well.

Furthermore, upon opening the keyboards, they both seem fine in the wiring and soldering. So long as you don't hit your keyboard, it should be fine. But of course, CM has quite the reputation, and are manufactured at high quality, and I would highly recommend them for anyone after a mechanical keyboard.

Overall, they are both good keyboards. Just know what switch you want, and maybe consider CM for the variety that they provide (layouts/backlighting etc)

If you want a full size keyboard and prefer black or red switches then go for the 6Gv2. It is a solid keyboard for its price, and I'd say it is definitely worth it.

CM Storm TKL is a good choice if you don't use the num pad section a lot and want to save space on your desk by not having the num pad area. CM Storm gives more variability in terms of switch options as they offer red, blue, brown, black, and in some cases green switches (though pretty much out of stock everywhere for greens).

Both of them have great build quality. It really depends on what you are looking for in a keyboard.

Yeah, I really prefer a simple keyboard, however now that I have been looking around, I might grab the Logitech g710+. I have tried it out at my friends house and I like browns. But I wish it didn't have macros or an angular design to it.

There are many other options out there that have brown switches :D might have to look around your area and see what's available.
