Rampage IV or V for ivy bridge-e?

Hey guys,

 

Just want to know whether there will be a refresh to the rampage series at the launch of ivy bridge-e.

Nothing has really been said yet. It will be on 2011 but nothing has been said about the chipset it will be using.

i heard the new haswell-e chips' will use the same socket but different chipset (which is called x99 i think)

most likely since you can use ivy chips on z68 with a bios update; it will probably be the same case for h-e.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new chipset too, although i believe it's been reported that Ivy-E will run on X79, Haswell-E will run on X99 which if they follow their naming convention would leave a nice gap for an X89 chipset.

It is actually going to use a new socket called LGA 2011-S

If you are talking about new Ivybride-E motherboards then yes, out of the box the Sandybridge-E processors should work so yes, but with the current motherboards you will need to flash a new BIOS for the Ivybridge-E processors to work.
