First, my case.

Installed W10 10240 from W7, didn't ask for key, installed it without any kind of activation.

Started up normally, activated.

Running slmgr /xpr indicates no expiration date, and says that "my machine is activated permanently"

Running slmgr /dlv indicates that i'm licensed, with a Volume:MAK key.

No watermark, in configuration it says that I have an Activated "Windows 10 Pro". No Insider, preview or trial stuff.

So... I have a retail Windows 10 that will update to Final version on the 29th?

Or I have a trial one?

I want to install Windows 10 on my main SSD, installed it in a small HDD that i don't use, just wanted to test it but now it seems that I have an activated Win10.

It seems that my key is used by a lot of people, looking in reddit I found a lot of people doing what I did, and got that, permanently activated Windows 10 with a common key.

So, should I give it a shot? Try to install it with the key I have in my SSD, replacing an existing Windows installation? Or wait until 290th, and then do a clean install?

Should I give it a go on the SSD?

I'd honestly wait till July 29th, even though 10240 IS RTM, Microsoft has temporarily stopped Insider activations. http://www.winbeta.org/news/all-pre-release-windows-10-insider-preview-product-keys-have-been-deactivated-july-29th-nears

Chances are very high that it will deactivate upon release

Why? I'm in the same case as many people on reddit that upgrade from legit Win7-8.1 to Win10 10240 and we're getting this activation :(

I talked with Microsoft Support and they don't seem to know...

I didn't used anything insider-related. The Win10 installation never asked me for my Insider account

Mine activated to windows 8 pro also, pretty sure with a new key rather then insider key.

will see what happens on july 29 :P

Nice! Hope we keep the activation.

Do you know if we can clean install W10 keeping the activation in another HDD/SSD?
