installing windows on a laptop

This feels like a really stupid question that probably has a simple answer but I want to install an ssd in a laptop ive just bought off ebay I have the product key but its an OEM key so cant use windows website to download windows 8 and as with all systems these days it has no cd, I also cant seem to find a way to backup the whole of windows that currently on the laptop to a usb stick to then reinstall on the ssd so at the mo im at a bit of a loss.

You should be able to use the windows media creation tool to create a USB drive that can install windows.
