Help with wifi adaptor

Hello, I recently got a computer and I am having trouble using the wifi adaptor I bought. I'm trying to bridge connections from my laptop with wireless internet that has windows 8, and trying to bridge it to my computer which has windows 7. I connect the ethernet cable and for my windows 7 desktop it never connects or shows any connections. Am i doing something wrong? Maybe link a video in the comments, thanks for the help!
