Hello,

I'm going back to home from Europe to America, and I'm planning to bring with me some components I bought here to build my PC, (Motherboard, graphic card, CPU, etc, no case). I was planning to take them with me in the hand luggage, but in the airline they told me that since new regulation require that any electronic device to be taken on the hand luggage should be able to turn on if asked by the security personnel I won't have any option but put it on the checked luggage.

So, my question is, if put them on their original boxes and wrap them on a lot of cloth, do you think they may get damaged? my biggest concerns are the mobo and the graphic card, I don't know if they could bend of something like that.

or should I send it by post (super expensive)

Keep them in their boxes and wrap them in clothing. Companies spend thousands of dollars of Research and development to produce packaging that will allow the component to go from Point A to Point B without breaking. But for extra security a few T shirts or some bubble wrap will do fine.

The electronics thing refers to laptops and cell phones. Things that you could w hollow out and hide bombs or drugs inside.

That being said if you still have the original packaging why not just put it in your checked bag? The original boxes were meant to allow shipping off the items

if they are not going in hand luggage, keep in mind that your luggage may take a drop up to 8 feet. it WILL BE tossed around. my brother is a luggage handler for delta, its not like they purposely abuse luggage, its just literally the only way it will be done in time
