5.1 Surround Sound?

Hey guys!
 

So I found my old surround sound, and i was wondering if i am able to connect all of this to my laptop? (HP Omen 15). I use an external monitor, and from what i know i could just connect via HDMI. However, i have a old receiver and there is no hdmi port, so is there still a way to achieve true 5.1 surround? Or would i get stereo? Would i need to a buy a new receiver to achieve this?
