I migrated all of my data to my ssd. I have windows 7 pro, and then bam. It wants me to enter in the product code. So of course I click CTRL C and CTRL V. The error message is: The product key doesn't appear to be a valid windows 7 license key. Please help me.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(

How exactly did you copy and paste your windows key? Is it a digital copy of windows? Also, did you try typing it out by hand, sometimes the hyphens get screwed up.

Ok let me give you a hand here, is it a OEM key or the other type? and how old is it? do you have POP (proof of Purchase ) if not? do you have box or serial code?? I'm asking you this cause you will have either of the next 3 outcomes

  • You will need to contact MS and tell them to Issue you the key (provide proof)
  • You need to speak with Whom ever made your PC ( if you upgraded from retail )
  • You are screwed .__.

OEM keys generally have some restriction on how many components you can change BUT I don't think that applies to Pro.. I have a friend that works for microsoft licensing.. they handle stuff like this all the time.. They will be able to tell just from the kkey you give if your eligble to use it (they may want proof of purchase)

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

Its really not about pherpherals, its more on I data cloned with Samsung data migration, and then it won't accept the license key I already had when I gave it mine, which total bullshit. I will try to contact MS, but I'm dead if I have to get POP. As I used a friends copy. I could get the serial number and stuff, but POP will be a pain in the ass.

Try typing it. I've had issues pasting serial numbers and many other things that ended up working perfect when I typed them out.

yeah

The OEM version of windows is tied to the hardware of your computer so if you swap your hardware for something else it can give you that issue. This has happened to me before. The only  way to activate it now is by phone. This is why it's usually not a good idea to buy the OEM version even though it's cheaper.
