Hey guys. I've been wondering for a while now, with devices like the OnePlus one, G3, and all phones/devices that have came out since then with a 4k display and some decent mics (Like seriously my oneplus one rivals some of my studio equipment) is there some software that can control the gain/input volume of my microphone so that I can prevent clipping at say a live music venue or some other loud environment?

There are applications like Cinema FV-5 which I am VERY fond of that allow you to simply monitor audio and audio levels visually and with a live monitor through headphones, but there's no way to control this within the app, I'd kill for something to prevent clipping, for example setting my input to -12dB at a music venue would make for some great footage, and great sound.

Android has a function built in called AutomaticGainControl (AGC) that if an app uses this even if you get manual gain control it will override it.

If you can find a video app that doesn't use this then you will be able to use something to manually control gain.

I have found a couple of audio recorders that have the ability to disable AGC (Only in app) and adjust gain for the recordings but I can not find anything that records video with this ability.

I'll keep looking for a while and If I find anything I'll report back.
