I need help choosing parts that balance overclockability for gaming at high resolutions and can also handle video editing and college multitasking. This build will be built over the course of the next 4 years while i am at college and will hopefully be done when i graduate. as for specific details: I have to have the Corsair 760t as a case because i fell in love with it and i really want the intel core i5 4690k as a cpu. i am also going for a blue black and white color scheme. here is the link to the parts i have picked out so far.      http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TPk6FT   Any advice or changes for the build? keep in mind that this will be my first computer build so nothing too extremely over the top with custom parts but usually i can figure it out on my own.

If you want to do alot of production and editing the i5 4690K will manage but not as well as the Xeon E3 1231 V3 which is pretty much an i7 4790K at the price of that i5.

The only issue is that it is locked.

You might (if you are willing) be able to fit a GTX 980 inside this budget if some other parts are lowered like your beloved case...  at $185 it's not cheap so I guess the option is present:  Case or GPU.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

Ok let me say this then you can go with your build or a higher budget, however if you go with yours then know that you will only want to play at 1080p ok

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

Huh. GPUs get outdated within 1~2years, and you would like to complete the build over 4? Not to mention that we are in the transition from DDR3 to 4; in a few years, I would expect DDR3 to be obsolete.

So... how about you go with this (below). For the current price, the build would make the price up within a bit less than 48 months = 4 years; however, it will always remain updated, will be much stronger than anything you may ever buy, and will handle just about ANYTHING you may throw at it. And you can take it to your friend's house, I guess... But the good part is that you can pay it little by little and take full benefit immediately, without having to wait for the build to be finished.

Ah man you can still rock a 480 and that's almost 5 years old.

If you're going to do video editing I would get an i7. Say the 4770K or 4790K
