using dell activation code for win 7 trouble

i am trying to reinstall windows 7 on my dell laptop that ive had for what feels like forever but i no longer have the windows disk that came with the laptop, anyone able to help me?

which windows 7 edition? 32 or 64 bit?

i was completely lost because i had been told that the code on my laptop wouldnt work without the original installation disk. i just wanted to make sure that was all

so pretty much all i can do is pay microsoft to allow me to use my product?

No. You can get disks from dell. And if I'm not mistaken you can just get any ISO and the UEFI is whats going to activate windows. I never had to reactivate windows on my familys' laptops. I just formated and installed and good to go.
