Spending money in the wrong places. Downgrade the case and get the x4 760x really.

I'd also go for a 970 over a 960. I'm pretty sure 970 is still great bang for your buck. Going for an AMD gpu maybe not a bad idea, if you don't mind going for AMD

The 970 would greatly increase the price well over my budget.

The G3258 is pretty good for the money

Would the dual core be able to run some of the more modern games like a quad core can??

Yes and No. Yes it can. No because Ubisoft says so (I don't even know why the stop their games from starting up on a dual core)

cheaper case, drop the ssd for now you can always add it later, go for a stronger gpu and cpu.
