I am thinking of buying a new PC for gaming and productivity (mostly for programming).

I am thinking of getting three monitors for the setup. It may not be for surround gaming, since I don't play much simulation games, but I would still like to have a surround setup if possible with one card, which is the Gigabyte gtx 970 G1. So can this card power all three monitors and have decent framrates with almost max settings?

*For some games, I would be okay to not game on the three at the same time.

Even a 980 will have problems, honestly if you want ot do this with a single card I'd grab a Titan X

You could theoretically also get a 1440p center display and have the two auxiliary displays at 1080 since one card really wouldn't be that good for surround in the first place.

If you want to game across three monitors, best card up for the job will be a Titan X

If gaming on just one monitor, a 970 or 290X will max your games at 1080p while having stuff on the other monitors. And then you can add another of the same card if you decide to game in surround. Mobo will need to support Crossfire or SLI respectively of course.

That is what I am planning, to buy another card but that is for the future. But yeah thanks men, the mobo that I picked is SLI capable.

I have thought about that I have such a bad case of OCD when it comes to multi-monitors haha. In theory can I have all 1440p on 3 displays but will just game with one monitor?

Yep. That shouldn't be a problem
