asus maximus vi hero '40' error code

My system launches completely fine but the error code for a ram installation is lit up. i read online it could be because i intalled the ram on b1 and b2 instead of a1 and a2 but they cant fit in the aforementioned slots because of CPU cooler clearance issues. Will this be affecting my performance at all? Should i change something? Thx
