For the ram to operate in dual channel mode, do you need a specific 4gbx2 kit? or just buying 2 identical individual rams then place it in the same color of the ram slot in your board(provided it supports dual channel mode) will work?

Buying a 4gbx2 kit of gskill ram vs buying 2pcs of 4gb stick of the same ram

I'm sure that even if they are different modules they work in dual channel, getting a 2 x 4GB set will not be different than 2, 4GB modules.

You can buy two individual sticks. They don't have to match, but its best if they do.

Are you asking this question because you already have one and someone gave you another stick?
They will work if they work at the same speed but I'll suggest to get the exact same RAM
