$1000 CAD build needed

I thought I would make this section for all of us who have never build a pc before and need a bit of assurance, advise, or help. Maybe some more experienced users could help us out here!

So I am looking to build a PC to replace my...lets just call it not so great...laptop. I want to use this build for video editing, CAD, and some gaming. (Kerbal Space looks so fun, but I can't run it right now.) Right now my parts list is a bit more expensive than I would like it to be.  I don't have a specific number for the price I am aiming for, but I know I'll be saving for ages to get this system at it's current price. If anyone has any suggestions to help bring down the price, I would greatly appreciate it. I need a monitor and a least 8 GB of ram, so don't suggest going to less ram or no monitor. But if you have a suggestion for a cheaper monitor or ram, I would like that. I read that it is good to say my location for advise like this-I live in California. By the way, I am new to the forums so let me know if I am doing anything wrong.  OK, so here it is:

I shopped around a bit more and dropped it quite a bit. I dropped windows 8.1 pro to save a good chunk of dough. The reason I wanted it in the first place was for remote desktop, but I will use some other software for that I think.
