So I've been playing around with audio solutions for a while now. I've heard that gaming headsets literally just suck and there is nothing else to it (excluding the hyperX Cloud of course). I've also heard that Yeti mics as well as Snowball mics are really good but I'm not really into streaming or anything but a good mic is a good mic and I will get one if it means it will sound nice. I have a pair of Bose on ear headphones already which have really good sound quality but I'm open to suggestions for a standalone pair of headphones as well.

When I used my Razer Kraken pros I heard a whining noise when playing games from electro-magnetic interference. It was pretty much un-fixable but the sound went away when I tried it on my Kraken 7.1s. However a feint buzz persists whenever I hear any audio in a game or Skype. It's like a background noise but it's not continuous (only when a sound occurs). It's kind of just bad audio quality as far as I'm concerned but they're a pretty decent gaming headset.

So, I guess I just want to solo both headphones and a mic and I want the best quality for the best price. I don't really have a price-range but my Bose headphones are pretty nice for audio quality. I'm open to suggestions like I said before though. So, any good standalone mics? Thanks in advance.

Looks interesting, but would this lessen quality at all? Isn't the reason gaming headsets suck because they use both audio / mic?

No, it's because they cut costs to increase profit and to gobble up money from the kids who don't know what they're purchasing with their mom's credit card.

Adding a modmic to a nice pair of headphones won't all of a sudden make the headphones suck.

I figured as much, but I thought it was more so the idea of using a splitter cable for audio / mic.

The only thing is that I use my Bose headphones almost everyday so I wouldn't really want a mic attached to them all the time.

You can remove it and there will only be a small bit of metal on the headphones attached.

a modmic is a standalone mic that has a base clasp that you attach to your headphones.

Enjoy those tacos now, for in 1000 years they will be illegal... eh Ha Ha Ha! I think we all know why.
