Self muting microphone, please help

My microphone automatically mutes it self after anywhere from 5 seconds to 10 minutes.

 

I have a Mxl 770 xlr connected to a blue icicle plugged into a rear USB on my asus m5a99fx pro r2 on windows 7.

 

I have tried using a different microphone (cad gxl2200) and a differ USB port, both front and back. Tried uninstalling and re installing the blue icicle drivers. Also disabling "high definition audio" in device manager. Tried uninstalling realtek hd audio. 

 

I have no idea what else to try, any ideas are welcomed no matter how unlikely they are.
