My problem is that for the money I spend on a i5 4690k I could get a G3258 and a R9 270x.

MORE CORES!

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/7LHvmG

  • $258.32 - Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • FREE (from old system) - Asus Radeon HD 7770 1GB Video Card
  • Total = $258.32

Pros

  • Better at multitasking
  • Once I upgrade the GPU to an 970 or 980, the system will be baller

Cons

  • Video card will bottleneck the system for sure

MORE GRAPHIX!

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/L4xXYJ

  • $72.98   - Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor
  • $184.99 - Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card
  • Total = $257.97

Pros

  • Better graphics out of the gate

Cons

  • Not as good at multitasking
  • True ballerness can only be achieved by upgrading the CPU and GPU, mo money required later down the road

So I do plan on gaming with this PC as it's primary function, but the main games that I tend to play are League of Legends and Heartstone which can run on a toaster. I do want to finish Skyrim (haha good luck with that) so having a better CPU will really help with that, but I also want to actually be able to play Metro: Last Light (my core 2 duo can't handle it).

Now, I know what you may be thinking "What is your complete build? We can probably make a 270 fit with your 4690k". No doubt you can, but I'm already pretty set on the rest of the build. I feel like being a pretty princess and spending more money on looks than performance, going for a pretty sexy black and white build with these guys http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/8vtmWZ

So, do you guys have any suggestions or thoughts on this?

If you get easily offended by people on the Internet there is something really wrong with you. You focus on the opinions of a few people instead of worrying about why you have a terrible taste in video games.

How are you getting the GPU for free, is it from an old build or what?

Yup it's the video card from my old system.

I'd say get the i5 build the G3258 is pretty good but you're gonna be spending more money in the long run to buy a CPU then replace it in a couple months or whatever. Also a GPU upgrade can be finished in 5 mins whereas a CPU is more of a thing to accomplish.
