Cheap 21:9 monitors

alby800

Hey guys

A month ago I ordered the LG 25UM65-P from MSY.com.au and it never arrived (Australia Post lost it) and they never got round to sending us a new one (they ran out of stock, if they had done there job when we asked, they would have had it and sent it to us ages ago) so they are going to refund us (IT TOOK THEM A FUCKING MONTH TO GET TO THAT STAGE!!!!!!)

TL;DR Bought LG 25UM65-P and it never turned up, MSY is bad and refunded money instead of sending a new one.

So here are my options:
Get a new monitor (21:9 is MUCH preferred)
Stick with what I have (Crappy TN HP w2207h 1680x1050 POS)

The monitor that I have been looking at is the Crossover 290M (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CrossOver-290M-LG-IPS-LED-2560x1080-QHD-DVI-D-21-9-cineview-29-Computer-Monitor-/321505444604?pt=AU_comp_monitor&hash=item4adb37c2fc )

I don't want to order the LG 25UM65-P, because I have decided I want a bigger screen (27 inch +) but if I need to it is fine.

Another thing I need to ask is whether or not I should fork out the extra $24 and go for the pixel perfect version.

Or if there is another 29 inch 21:9 monitor for cheap.

Thanks in advance :D

That monitor is mighty expensive for 2560x1080... and I don't think it would look that good on a 29" panel. at that price, get an asus pb278q.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

eBay + Korean monitor = Pixel Perfect thingo

I've never had any experience with Korean monitors, but with such an open acceptance of how some of their monitors are defective and have to provide an added cost for insurance, than imo it's a must.

I'd personally stay away from any Korean monitor, regardless of where they are being sold.

You can get  21:9 monitor from Kogan, but it's 25 inch...

Kogan is probably the same or worse than eBay...

So you recommend I get the pixel perfect version?

Also can anyone tell if this monitor is matte? I will watch Tek Syndicate's video on it again but idk

Only other decent alternative I could find:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/25UM65-P-25-Ultrawide-IPS-21-9-5ms-2560x1080-5M-1-DSUB-DVI-HDMI-DP-USB3-S-/221553815093?pt=AU_comp_monitor&hash=item3395a2ee35

2560x1080p, IPS, made by a reputable company (LG) and a pretty disappointing 14ms response time. It's also 25 inches...

Yeah maybe not, the PB278Q is $600-$620 here in Aus...

If you do end up getting it, definitely. It's pretty much a must.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that is the one I already ordered. But from the website and all the research I did on it. It should only be 5 ms

Soz, I derped :P

That probably would have been GTG (grey to grey), LG most like would have listed BTB (black to black) on their site which takes longer to do (Black -> White -> Black, takes longer but is a more realistic response time, instead of Grey -> White -> Grey).
