BitLocker on Internal Drive

Okay so I am just curious about if it is okay to encrypt my internal hard drive on my computer. It's a secondary drive, but it's mainly just to protect the data on there.

Will it work just like it does with external drives or is it not recommended?

i do it, on my internal drives
