Hi,

I have a build designed by another member on this forum: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/VjsWP6

Recently found out that the motherboard has some pretty fatal flaws, what alternatives are there? Is this a decent build? Are there any changes I could make that would make notable differences when gaming?

Thanks!

You can do a lot better than that for £1100. Have you bought anything yet ?

I would go with something like this.

Quieter cooler and Better power supply.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro is a great case.

Gigabyte G1 overclocks very well. The Galax Infinity Black would also be another very good alternative to the Gigabyte. It is currently the same price - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-010-GX&campaign=affiliate/tag

That build looks nice (I think, I literally have no clue!). The case looks awesome, but it'll be a real ball ache to return my case, would it really be worth it?

There is nothing really wrong with your spec, and if it is going to cost you a lot to send things back then stick with what you have.

(You can usually get free returns on things from Amazon (I think) if you bought directly from them)

The BeQuiet 800 case is a good case though.

Ok FOUR degrees not five. Forgive me. Regardless, D14 outperforms and is MUCH MUCH easier to mount. A breeze infact.

Given that the OP already has the one cooler, it makes no sense to incur shipping and likely restocking charges to change to another cooler that is not a great deal better.

@shurrow, your build is fine. If you really are concerned about the motherboard send it back and get an Asus.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

You don't half talk shit  Did you not look at the Kitguru link ? The BeQuiet outperformed the D14.

Noctua D14 Stock temps - 27c

Noctua D14 Load temps - 67c

Dark Rock 3 overclocked temps @ load - 85c

Noctua D14 overclock temps @ idle - 28c

Noctua D14 overclock temps @ load - 90c

I agree that the Noctua has an easier mounting system. The BeQuiet one is a bit fiddly, but once it's in it's in.
