Difference in GTX 970

Okay, so the differences are:
MSI:
- More slient
- Shorter
- Usually cheaper
G1:
- Has -marginally- better OC
- Lower temps
- More display outputs
- Backplate
I always suggest going for MSI, unless there is some huge discount. The 3 main reasons for this are:
- MUCH shorter card. The G1 has a limited selection of cases. While you may not care for it NOW, you might want to use it in a shorter case; say, using the 970 on another pc after an upgrade, or when testing any parts in your/your friends's pc.
- MUCH better for SLI. G1 produces more heat, and is able to transfer that more effectively. So what does this mean? More hot air is being throw at the lower VGA. It is also a long card, trapping the hot air in the middle of the 2. Again, you may not care for SLI now, but given the great scaling of the 970s, along with a good price/performance, and the fact that they consume so little power that most PSU can handle it, future SLIs are quite possible.
- Pricing. At least where I live. It's a big difference. And considering they perform almost the same... there's no point on the G1.
All of that being said, I still recommend neither of those. My suggestion is always the Msi 4gd5t OC, due to similar power than both and MUCH LOWER price. It also has a cleaner look, making it easier to fit in any build, rather than the shinning red of the 4G.
