Hi so I'm in the market for a new game..

here are my specs:

i5 2500k stock

hd6850

8gb ram

So i'm looking at these games right now..

Farcry 4 (or should i start off with 3?)

GTA 5 (have 4 and its great)

COD AW

BF Hardline (have bf3)

will my computer have any problems running these? I'm mostly interested in GTA5, how well do you guys think it'll run on a hd6850? On high? Medium? What else are good choices stated above or OTHER games?

Farcry 4 (or should i start off with 3?)

Historically the Far Cry series has always had self-contained narratives. Each game in the series is more of a thematic sequel, always taking place in a new setting with new characters and a new story. Based on what I've seen so far, Far Cry 4 doesn't change that formula. So you don't need to play FC3 first unless you want to.

I expect you could get some degree of playable performance in most of those games at 1080p with your HD 6850, but it would be a good time for an upgrade. Your CPU is fine for now.

Farcry 4 (or should i start off with 3?) Gonna run like crap, quite frankly

GTA 5 (have 4 and its great) You'll have to use WAY reducesd settings

COD AW Possibly be ok. Again, reduced settings

BF Hardline (have bf3) Might choke a bit

Your CPU is fine for another couple of years but you NEED a new GPU. In the USA the R9 290 is only $250 now and will make all those games run like butter on a hot pan.

Keep in mind that your GPU is not even as powerful as the GPU in the PS4.

do you have a ball park estimation of what GTA5 will run at? at about 50-60 fps? medium? low?

what would be a good video card to upgrade to for best performance per buck less than 200$ canadian

Expect like 30 fps on low for GTA5. If you're lucky.

Under $200 Canadian? Not gonna happen dude. You need a lot more than that to run these kinds of games smoothly on ultra.

I highly suggest

$299.99   FREE   $299.99 NCIX

how much money are we looking at in terms of both sides? and which cards?

Either a GTX 970 ($350 USD/$400 CDN) or an R9 290 ($250 USD/$299 CDN). Both have the same performance, more or less. The Nvidia card is DX12 compatible, runs cooler, and draws less power.

I wouldn't go any lower than that personally.

What you've got should suffice.

I'm going to point out that no one has any idea how GTA V will run. Rockstar has a terrible history with most of their PC ports, and its entirely possible GTA V will be a mess on release. Or this could be where Rockstar turns it all around. We really have to just wait and see, and—this is key—avoid pre-ordering.

really? wasnt there rumors around that gta v wasnt just a simple port over? i thought they did extra work to optimize it for pc? I guess time will tell for this one..

I played Battlefield Hardline on the beta and it's sucks for me!

what was the story line mainly about? the multiplayer cops and robber thing looks cool to me..

There are mods for like 30 billion games where it's FPS cops and robbers. Don't let that be your selling point. If it's buggy and sucky like BF4, stay away.

Although it's a low end PSU it has enough juice to run either a 970 or a 290.

A really nice Gold rated PSU is the seasonic G550 but there's no need to upgrade.

First of all, any rumors would have had to come from Rockstar themselves at this point, and they have a financial interest in telling only as much truth as they have to. I'm sure Ubisoft said the same things about AC: Unity at some point. I assure you that Rockstar is not rewriting the entire game from scratch for PC. Everything is a port today, it's just a matter of how much effort is being put in.

Besides, this is an age where a 30 FPS cap or bizarre resolution can be marketed as part of a game's "artistic vision." We'll only know for sure how well the game works when we can play it.
