I'm assuming this is the right place, but I see a mix of "Can I run multiple router?" threads and other things about NAS and stuff... I feel so puny in this world.

*Ahem*... anyway, I decided that I'm in the market for a Wireless Internet adapter, after I pulled my previous one, a TP-Link TL-WN851ND, as it caused my computer to crash and restart at random, as shown here:

Wired ethernet is not an option. I know it's the best, but where I am right now I can't do it, and there's nothing much I can do about it. My house is a bit old, so powerline won't do. I have only three parameters:

-Needs Win8.1 support. This is why my card kept failing, since it didn't have native support for the OS. This is really my only demand.

-PCI slot is preferred, since I have nothing else using that slot at the moment. An audio card would be the next contender, but that's not a necessity.

-Budget is up to $40-45. That's how much I spent for my previous card, and am aiming for a refund on that.

So far I found a few, how do these look? I honestly don't want to have this problem again.

Thoughts, suggestions? Thanks for stopping by!

easiest way to do this is go to your favorite retailer (newegg?) and pick the most popular/highest rated adapter within your budget

PS: there is no reason to choose a PCI adapter over a USB adapter. PCI is not better.

Thanks for the info, I didn't get the notification for some reason.

I prefer PCI over USB because I would like to utilize that slot in my motherboard, and my USB port in my IO is getting a bit crowded anyway.

If its YOUR house why is it not an option? If it was a rental ill understand It just sounds like you too lazy to lay  some cables around. I was like that but i took a DAY to lay a line down and wayyy better no more disconnects or jumpy pings.

I decided to not drill holes in my house, not because I'm lazy, but the house is old and the previous owner was said to be... "crafty," to say the least. It would be easier for me to to wireless, and I prefer not to argue further about the matter. I just want an adapter, that's all.
