I just bought a CCFL light/inverter kit and then read somewhere else that the stock inverters have a risk of catching on fire. 

 

I was looking for an aftermarket inverter for my bulb and really had trouble finding something that would work. 

 

Would using a ballast like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3M120C3801&cm_re=ccfl_inverter-_-9SIA3M120C3801-_-Product work?

It might, but we cant tell you for sure unless if you tell us the model of the kit you got.

I probably should have thought of that.

Logisys doesn't specify the voltage of their CCFL lights, but a lot of their stuff is 650v so I imagine that is too. The BMW E36 ballast that you have chosen has a output of 1200v, so that might be a little much for your bulbs. Personally I think the stock inverter would be fine as long as it gets some air flow or isn't completely covered with other wires.
