For those of you more familiar with AI Suite 3, I was messing around with auto-overclocking and it set it to 4.5 Ghz. While that's fine when gaming, It BSODs when rendering so I manually tune it down to 4.3.

However, every time I reset it goes back to 4.5 in the AI Suite. Any clue how to change it permanently in AI SUITE?

You have to do it in the BIOS.  AI Suite is more for on-the-fly changes, but whenever you boot up, it will revert to the automatic OC settings.  Best thing to do is set it all to default and do it manually.

While auto-overclocking is great to get an idea of how your processor performs, it is always best to do it manually in the BIOS.  One thing that auto-overclocking does that is not so good is setting your LLC to a maximum 8/8, this is less than desirable.  You want to set it to 4/8 so that you avoid vBoost and vDroop.

Try 4.5Ghz @ 1.275v in the BIOS, set LLC to 4/8 and "CPU Power Phase Control in the same BIOS section to Extreme.  If you are stable 4.5Ghz @ 1.275v, you can start reducing voltage until you become unstable.  Once you become unstable, go back to the last stable voltage and that is your best overclock for 4.5Ghz.

Also, cache overclocking doesn't yield any performance benefits, its best to leave it at stock. It will also improve stability.  What I recommend is setting Cache to min=38, max=38 voltage = adaptive

Also, what cooling are you using?
