Windows auto update and Nvidia.

I am trying to install the latest nvidia drivers and windows auto installs old drivers. I have auto updates turned off in windows, I have no idea why its doing this but I cant get it to stop installing them. Is there another way to stop Windows 7 from auto updating?

You can hide selected updates to stop it from downloading automatically, but maybe it helps in your case too.

Get rid of the old driver/windows update and check for windows updates manually. It tells you how many optional and important updates are available. Check both, optional first it is most likely there. If you find it, right click it and select "Hide Update".

You should look for something called nvidia or geforce. You can also check "View Update History".

If you don't find it anywhere it is caused by something else.

 

Do you have beta drivers activated in the geforce software? Windows Update might think it is an older driver or the windows one would be more reliable.
