internet speed really slow

i have shaw 25 mb internet plan and i am using linksy ea2700, i use Asus Wireless N PCI E adapter(PCE N15) but my internet is really slow. help plz.

I get these results on speed test but when I go on Steam and download something is always on 1 megabyte and sometimes I can't even watch twitch on high

Wi-Fi is sometimes hit and miss on speeds.  Is it possible for you to get a wired connection on your PC and run a speed test with that?

 

Forgot to mention, your ISP and the speedtest measures your speed in Mbps (megaBITS per second) and when you download or stream you will probably get a measurement in MB/s (megaBYTES per second).  This numbers will be very different.  To convert megabits to megabytes divide the number of megabits by 8.

I cannot get a wired connection since the router is on the top floor

Do you maybe have a laptop, tablet, or other device that you could do a speed test on?  If you could do a speed test on a wired connection and you get the same results then you need to contact your ISP because you're not getting the speeds you pay for.  If a laptop, phone, or tablet can connect to your Wi-Fi and get a full 25Mbps download speed then the problem lies in the connection between your PC and router.

I  just upgraded to Charter Spectrum, if you have Charter you should be getting 60-120MBPT. Call your internet provider and ask them to check if your Modems and wireless routers are outdated. Good  Luck
