x99 8core build

so its time... I wanted an extreme edition cpu for ages and now I could easily afford it , it was time to bite the bullet.

 

my old setup: 

i7 3930k 

Rampage IV Extreme BF3

H110

16GB 4x4gb corsair Vengeance

1TB samsung EVO  840 SSD

AX1200i 

2x680GTX from ASUS

 

I plan to keep everything and will be replacing mobo , cpu and ram to:

Asus Rampage V Extreme 

i7 5960x

16GB Corsair 2800mhz vengeance LPX

What do you need the 2 cores for? if you don't need it then why did you buy it?

Upgrading, it's like drugs!

 

Seriously, i highly doubt you need the upgrade. Wait a year until prices settle then get it.

I found out. Well, i know how it feels. I keep trying to find something to upgrade but there isn't anything i need.

Well I can see a lot of things that you could get better of, but as you say: you don't need to. Haha.

 

 

What do you need the 2 cores for? if you don't need it then why did you buy it? 

 

Posts like this really annoy me on forums (not just Linus'). If someone wants to go all out and spend their money, then let them and don't tell them off for doing so and question their reasoning.

I guess its because he plays dayz and dayz is a cpu intensive game. more cores = better gameplay. or at least thats what ive heard.

I'm not telling him off... just it's a little dumb to spend 1k for a CPU alone that you don't even need.

Perhaps his uses are abnormal and he does benefit from it. I've often had people ask me on forums why I'm getting what I'm getting or why I bought what I have, and it's impossible to reason with some people.

I do run 2 VM´s and video edditing . 

and in the winter I do folding@home

Ok , its all in the case... final day for my 680's !

Have to say , the 5960x is much cooler then my 3930k idle!  I can leave my fans off when idling .
