Can't you upload one with music? 
And since when do you have the problem?
What did you change? 
Is it only the one speaker or both?

im taking them apart now, to see if maybe a wire or the glue has gone bad.

It think it sounds like the Parts that separate the frequency are broken. 
I only know the German expression. (Frequenzweiche)
So the mid-bass speaker trys to play the high frequency's and that results in a bad sound. 

Did you try different audio sources?

Another thing could be that you had an over load on a speaker and its voice coil melted. You can test it if you push the membrane of the speakers back (with your fingers) if it makes a scratchy noise that will be it.

The parts of the "filter" are a few capacitors and a coil. 

If you take the speaker apart look at these you should see if it is broken.
