Hey all,

What would you recommend for my needs? I was going to go for the 4960k but then I looked at Passmarks scores and both the AMD CPUs are 1000-2000 points ahead for $100-$50 less money. I'm probably primarily gaming and doing occasional light streaming or rendering. What do you guys think?

Thanks,

SnowGhost

EDIT: I plan to use an R9 290 in my build.

If you will feel good about saving the money then go for the 8320. If you will later on regret not spending $100 more or whatever it cost on the 4690K then get the 4690K. The reality is the 8320 paired with a strong graphics card will play your games just fine and do a decent job with whatever else you throw at it.

i wouldn't base a major purchase because of one benchmark. there are many comparos

between this choice and the Intel favor a bit more in your demands than the AMD counters.

list your gaming preferences and app list and others can weigh in on your needs values to

their experiences.

Games:

DayZ

Battlefield 4

CS:GO

Bioshock Infinite

Witcher 3

Software:

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

Adobe Photoshop CS6

AMD Gaming Evolved

I would go with a 4690k. it'll be better if you overclock it a bit. Plus download the OpenCL acceleration plug-in for more performance.

I'd go with the 8350. Theoretically the i5 would be better for gaming but the difference is barely noticeable and shouldn't be more than 2-3 fps. For the light rendering you will benefit from the more cores on the 8350. And it's $100 less
