Pci-e 2.0 16x will work great now.... And for a few years in the FuTuRe!!

Most all cards don't cap out Pci-e 2.0's bandwidth .... So you're fine

The best CPU for your price point would be the AMD FX-8320 : You are definitely going to want to Over Clock it with a good-ish air cooler Something like this for your price)

As for a MotherBoard, this is the only great <$150 one that comes to mind  .....   But I am more familiar with the intel Moba market, so take it with a grain of salt.

Overall your looking at $311 for Moba and CPU.... So lots of cash to spend on a good GPU :)

You cannot go AMD on mATX. Also, for gaming I strongly recommend going Intel anyways because of the superior gaming performance. FX processors cannot run all games well because of its poor single core performance which is still incredibly important.

For $850, you want an i5 + Z97 mATX, Tigerdirect has a deal right now, both for $300. Pair that with an R9 280 and you are golden for 1080p gaming.

i dont think that your right. while ti is  true that the fx cores are less powerful but  there are mreo so the work load is  shared  by all not just  one  but i might be worng  i dont  make cpus and that is how i understnad multi core.

mATX i have Maximus V gene and i like it very much, good for over-clocking. I think you can save 100$ on amd cofig. For gaming it's bettwr to go with good graphic card and good monitor. I do not think the FX will bottle neck the new graphic cards.
