Power Connections- PCI-E

Go to solution Solved by KeltonDSMer,

I am having a little trouble following. So there are two pci-e cables, and both have a 6+2 and a 6pin plug? You want to use the two 6+2 plugs which means using both cables, right? Does your 280x require 2x8pins?

If so, this is actually the ideal solution electrically because any time power is used on a "string" of plugs, the wires upstream near the PSU have to carry the current for all the plugs on the string. I see no downside to using the two cables other than having the extra 6pins dangling around, making cable management a bit harder to deal with.

Hi, I just recently got a Sapphire 280x Toxic, and I was wondering about the PCI-E Connections. I have 2 cords, both with 1 pci-e power connections with 6+2, and a single 6 pin connection on both. Would it be okay to use both of the 6+2 connectors and leave the 2x 6 pin connectors unconnected on either cord?

Hey no problem, you are welcome! You might want to check back in later in case someone else has something important to bring up, but you should be good to go as far as I can tell.
