Hi! I've put together a PC that i think would be good for gaming, but since this is my firs ever PC that i have configured myself, ithought other people opinions and suggestions would be nice to hear!

1. Budget & Location
Since i will be ordering parts from Germany and i live in Norway there will be a lot of converting going on!

In U.S. dollars my budget is around 2000$

In Euros it's 1500 eur

And in Norwegian krones it's around 12 500 nok

I hope that this is understandable! Just post in whatever money you want!

2. Aim
90% Gaming and 10% random web browsing or movie watching!
3. Monitors
For now it is enough with one, but i might buy one more, so 2 eventually! But for now i don't have a need for monitor, althoug maybe you can recommend good monitor for both gaming and movie watching!

4. Peripherals
None needed!

5. Why are you upgrading?
My MSI GT70's GPU burnt from gaming Skyrim with too many mods LOL and it was 4 years old so it was time for an upgrade anyways!

@ropcik112 Guten abendt :D welcome to the Linus tech tips forum!

You need a bios update with the now older Z87 motherboards to be fully compatible with the haswell-refresh cpu's. There is a newer refresh of this motherboard for Z97, I don't believe it's that much more I'd just go with the 1866mhz since it's not too expensive over the 1600mhz kit. I'd try to grab a okay 16GB dual channel kit personally.

Is there any more expenses for an ssd? versus going sshd?

Please become a member of the Linus Tech Tips forum, keep writing smug remarks & let us love you. Peace out.

Good system. Might switch to a z-97 board. Get an ssd tough. And for gaming, the best Intel core i-5 more than enough just like a gtx 770 is enough. And you should consider a water cooler like a corsair h100i or if you can get your hands on it het the swiftech h220X. Good luck with the build.

Your build sounds pretty good, only thing is you should really go for a Z97 motherboard because of possible compatibility issues. Also an SSD would be good, if you can't increase your budget then go with an i5-4690K instead and buy the biggest SSD you can (recommend 250GB, 120GB as a minimum).

EDIT: The D15, whilst being a great cooler, also can have compatibility issues with RAM and stuff fairly easily, so if you wanted to be 100% sure on compatibility I'd go with a AIO water cooling unit instead. Also, if you care about looks (I'm fairly sure that case has a window) then you'll probably want to go with something that looks a little nicer than the D15. The Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 is a good choice for pretty much the same price and the same (or close at least) quietness. http://www.alternate.de/be-quiet!/Dark-Rock-Pro-3-CPU-K%C3%BChler/html/product/1119633?

If I pick SSD then i need to get an HDD as well and it would cost more! For SSD i would just pick ADATA Premier Pro SP900 128 GB, because it has best rating on altrnate.de as for HDD i would go for Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB which also has best rating

80 usd (SSD) + 65 usd (HDD) = 145 usd

SSHD = 92 usd

I could go with MSI Z97, gaming 5 motherboard instead of Z87

Ok, so here is what i did:

Changed Z87 for MSI Z97, Gaming 5

Changed i7-4790k for i5-4670k

As for cooling i can get rid of Noctua cooler and go for Dark Rock Pro 3 or Swifttech H220 (they don't have H220X) or Corsair H100i

Prices: (All components + different cooling options)

With Dark Rock Pro 3 = 1858 usd

With Swifttech = 1905 usd

With Corsair H100i = 1885 usd

I think i will stick with SSHD afterall, if the only difference is speed!

So here it is, i guess this is what i will be getting then! http://www.alternate.de/html/cart/loadSharedCart.html?id=cae600737e6b163a46d1756bf132e7f8

Thank you so much for help guys! I really appreciate it!

Not sure what the difference in price is there but the i5 4690k is a better option to get if you can! It should be too much
