Xbox 360 "open tray" problem

Microwilli

Hey guys,

I have got 4 xboxes here to repair, 2 of them seem to have that wierd problem, that when you insert a game, it doesnt read it and on the xbox menu it says "open tray", i dissasembeled the drive of one of them and i didnt notice anything out of the ordinary, so i assembeled it again, for some reason the one i dissasembeled works again now O.o so i tried it with the other one aswell, hoping it would work, but it didnt. I also tried a few other things, but nothing seemed to help unfortunately :(

do you guys have any tips or fixes for me? :)

Here is what you gotta do,

Step one: Run over all said Xbox consoles with a car.

Step two: Tell them to buy a pc.

;) jk

Has it been tested with multiple games on the second machine? Do game disks spin when put in the second xbox?

I should be studying.

I had that problem with an xbox 360 it was caused by the LASER that reads the disk moves too far down the tracks. Chances are when you disassembled it you moved the LASER back to the correct place on the track.

@Microwilli

that was the issue with my brother's Xbox that I had to repair. I moved the laser around and it eventually worked again.

There was so much effin dust in the thing I had to remove every single component out of it and clean it.
