Emulator Box ideas.

After my PC is fully upgraded, I will be putting my other components to good use by building another gaming PC dedicated to emulators and couch gaming.

I had this idea of using a 5.25" bay to make a port bay for old controllers for emulators like SNES and Saturn.

 

Problem is I'm not sure how to make it look clean. I can do the ports easily, but I probabld can't make a smooth looking bay.

 

My plan is to use my old Elite 130, load it with a couple hard drives for terabytes of games (all of which I own ), so I can take it to friend's houses, or just use it in my living room.

I will be cutting holes in this lian-li 5.25 cover, and having all the adapters connected to a USB hub inside the 5.25 bay

Everything from Dolphin to MAME will be put on it. I just need a bit of planning for the 5.25 controller bay
current plans are

 

2x Gamecube ports

2x N64 ports

1x SNES port (used for NES and SNES games)

1x Genesis port

PS1 and PS2 games can be played on Dualshock 3's, and I can buy a USB arcade pad. I can add additional USB adapters for more players, but not in the 5.25 bay

I might paint the entire PC, but I don't know what colour yet

My idea was a little different

 

 

I was going to use a 3.25 to 5.25 bay adapter to house the PCB, so I would have a fairly clean adapter that could be transferred between PC's easily.

 

I was also going to use a thin piece of plywood behind that 3.25 cutout with holes for the ports. It limits how many ports I can have on a single bay, but who even uses 5.25 anymore? I can just make another one.
