Computer POSTing after GPU reseat

My gpu had a length width of x2 instead of X 16 so someone suggested that I reseat the GPU so I did. Now the computer wont boot it goes into post with 5 beeps. I tried to remove the GPU but I have no adapter for the onboard graphics but I tried it without video and it still posted. Any idea on why it would post after reseating the GPU?

Dell says that it is a CMOS battery failure. I just replaced the battery and it was a new battery to begin with.
