Hi there!

I'm a novice in computer building and i don't really know that much about building a computer or installing one.

I've had help from my friends to replace some of my parts that i chose which was clearly overpriced/not worth it and now the final build is here, ordering it in about 3 weeks time (16th of July)

Now the thing is, i need feedback about my build, if i should replace anything else or if there's a component that isn't good and so forth.

I also need help when it comes to the BIOS, i've never built a PC by myself but this is gonna be the first time, the BIOS seems a bit confusing to me, i've seen videos where they go to their BIOS and configure

stuff but i still don't know what you do there, it'd be grateful if someone could explain what you do there.

My PC doesn't have anything special like RAID because i still haven't learned about it but i'm willing to learn if someone could post some links to an article that explains it clearly >_<

Other than that i have extra fans on my build that i will be putting on the bottom as intake because the case i'm getting will have 2 fans on the front (intake) and my CPU cooler which will have a fan and a radiator belongs to the rear

case but i still don't know how the CPU fan works (intake/exhaust or nothing?) and the top are of course exhaust, the intake fans on the bottom and front will probably push out the air out so i don't need an exhaust fan.

I got a friend who has Windows 7 for me because i'm cheap :D

Anyways, if anyone got tips for me when i'm building the PC or when installing the BIOS / Windows, anything, tell me.

Thanks! and hopefully someone will help me out because i'm just a novice ^.^

2nd EDIT: I got a 10m:1 - 1080p monitor, i'm not really sure what 10m:1 means and if its a good monitor, help :(

Yea its there, i totally forgot about it :D

Well, your build is ok, but there are some weird stuff. Why the Haswell CPU but Z97 motherboard? That SSD is probably the worst one you can buy, get something like an 840 EVO or Crucial M500. Will you only be using the PC for gaming? Because then the i7 is pretty overkill. If you really wanted to you could probably fit 2x 780s into that budget.

How could i possibly put x2 780's? or do you mean the 3GB version?

  • While constructing it make sure you place every screw type in a different place, don't mix them.
  • Make sure every now and again you touch the case's side panel to get rid of static charge to prevent shorting out components.
  • No matter what make sure you have the CPU in the correct orientation, the little triangle on the CPU should match with the triangle on the mobo.
  • Be sure to have a balanced intake/exhast system, so try not to have only a front intake, and like 3 exhausts.
  • Be careful with mainly the CPU, GPU, RAM and mobo installation. RAM and GPU installation will be quite simple, just make sure you have the RAM oriented the correct way.
  • Have the I/O connectors in the correct configuration otherwise your PC won't turn on.
  • Make sure it looks nice, so keep most of the cables in the bak of the case where you can't see them, though be sure to not make the side panel buldge.
  • Once you have completed you PC make sure after you install your OS to install all of the appropriate drivers, the GPU and mobo drivers will come with them (DVD) but the CPU drivers you'll have to get off the manufacture's website.

Ok, now ima do suggestions for the hardware, might take a bit ;)

  • 1st up you'd be better off getting an 840 EVO and a WD Blue or Seagate for your storage.
  • Replace the wireless card with an ethernet cable, it may look worse and will take a bit of time to become even somewhat concealed but the stability and speed is more important imo.
  • If your preparing for Broadwell than don't get a 4770K, you'll be wasting money because you'll have a 390 AUD processor already, Broadwell isn't that far off.

Btw the 10m:1 is the dynamic contrast ratio, not sure if it's good though lol.

CPU: Intel i7 8700K | CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 | RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x8GB | Motherboard: Asus ROG Z370-E | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB & 2TB | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB & 970 EVO M.2 500GB | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X | PSU: Silverstone Platinum Strider 1100W | Monitor: AOC i2367Fh | Headphones: ATH-M40X | Mic: Antlion ModMic 4 | Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB w/ MX Browns | Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO

Sure, get a Z97 motherboard, but then at least get a devil's canyon CPU. Also, why would you possibly need a 6gb card for 1080p??

Long life..

Hoping to keep this same GPU for atleast 4 years or something around that

EDIT: And also playing games that takes alot of Vram or that helps the games performance by having more Vram like ex.

-Watch_Dogs

-ArmA 3

-DayZ

etc

Thats about 15 118 SEK which is about the price of my PC but WITHOUT a monitor.

Some stuff doesn't exist so i had to put in components that are similar.

so what if you go back to 1tb on the hdd, go for 8gb ram instead of 16, and maybe change to the fractal design define r4 instead of the define xl r2? and idk if you really need that wireless chip? if you do leave that in. how much would it cost then? you don't want to gimp on ssd space, it's so valuable :D

You know, just forget about it, i'll post this on Tomshardware since this place kinda lacks good people that answers ^.^

Not to be rude towards the forum but just close down this topic, thanks for everyone who gave me tips :)
