questions about 21:9

I currently have a thirty inch hd tv for my consoles and a 20 inch monitor for my computer and have no room left for any displays so a 21:9 wouldnt fit with the tv so im just wondering if the 21:9 monitor would work for consoles with like black bars on the side. by the way this one inparticular http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-25-ips-led-hd-219-ultrawide-monitor/4120013.p?id=1219096319838&skuId=4120013&st=categoryid$pcmcat200900050014&cp=1&lp=2 thanks for any help

Consoles only run @ 4:3 or 16:9.

Looks like it can, set setting "Ratio" to "Original" or "1:1" should display video according to the aspect ratio of the video signal input.

You can use your console with a 21:9 aspect ratio, but it will have the black bars on the side.

 

I'd not bother with a 25" 21:9 monitor though, at that size it's not worth it. Look to get either a 29" one, or a 27" 16:9 monitor.
