9060 XT gpu blackscreen?

I recently built a new computer with the following specs.

 

• AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor
• Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler
• GIGABYTE B850 Gaming WIFI6 AMD AM5 LGA 1718 Motherboard

 

• Z5 Neo RGB Series AMD Expo DDR5 RAM 32GB 2x16GB 6000MT/ s CL36-36-36-961.35V Des

 

 

GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC 16G Graphics Card, PCIe 5.0, 16GB

 

Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
 

Corsair RM850e (2025) 850 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

 

 

When I had everything together, my pc randomly just goes black; not after starting a game. No noticeable patterns, just black. It would do it idle sometimes, but I noticed more after opening a game. It’s definitely a GPU problem. I searched up this many times, trying to troubleshoot it. Some things I tried were:

 

Reinstalling gpu drivers

Reseating the gpu and power cables

Underclocking the gpu

I changed the PclE slot in BIOS to gen4 (not sure what that does but I read similar forums and some people said it fixed it)

I even reinstalled windows to check if it was an OS error. 

Some things I noticed and already tested were:

 

Sometimes when I boot the computer, the VGA light on the motherboard would be on, but it would go away when I restarted it.

 

The black screen doesn’t happen when I ran a gpu stress test/vram test

 

The power cables are definitely plugged in all the way and are not pulling on each other (not sure if it could be an issue with the actual cable and not the way its plugged in)

 

 

 

 

 

I don’t know what to do anymore, please help me!

How would a monitor cable cause the pc to crash?

What refresh rate and resolution is your monitor?

Are you using the cable that came with the monitor?

Its a 144 Hz monitor, and its the cable that came with it.

So somehow I knew you were connected via DP.

 

If the HDMI cable can carry the data bandwidth needed for RESOLUTION x 144hz, it should have no issues.

 

It is likely that PIN 25 is wired and is shorting out the I/O on the 9060XT, fix it before it is too late.

 

Display manufacturers do not always box the right needed DP cables, SAMSUNG is well known for this BS.

Nope, buy a VESA certified DP cable, Kabledirect do them for not a lot of money, make sure if you use HDMI that it is also from the same company, it's how I avoid the issue.

You’re 100% sure its a display cable problem?
