I've been putting off buying different parts of my computer and trying to save up money for it, but the way it works with my father is, he's always doing lots of small purchases then a single big one, for example we've never owned a home, but always lived in extremely nice rental homes or apartments. He'll buy what I need faster if I buy it in small purchases, I've got all my peripherals because I use them with my laptop and they were all about 100$, the only thing I'm afraid of is buying for example a motherboard or hard drive, and it being DOA but I won't find out for 3 months when I go to build, and then it's too late to return or prove it was a DOA.

That's what I'm afraid of but I'm not sure if I'm right about the DOA length, I was under the impression it was usually between 30-60 day DOA coverage?

& Since I'm doing incremental purchases what do you recommend for the buy order? I was thinking one of two ways

Motherboard

Cpu

Ram

PSU

So I can have it testing and booting within 60 days.

or buying a case / hard drive first, then buying all four of those.

Then obviously I can buy the gpu last because Integrated is enough to get it up and running.

Ideas?

I'd go Case, CPU, RAM, PSU, Mobo.

If I had to choose though I'd rather buy everything in one go than buy them part by part.

just buy parts with long warranties

Motherboard, CPU, PSU, RAM, that way you can see if the stuff works

Well as of now, I've got 390 + another 90 ill get tonight. then I've got 60 in a bank account.

So I can get my dad to buy the case, then wait a bit, then get him to buy the ram, and buy all my other stuff together with it.

going for the i7-4790k and the Asus z97-AR.

looks like it'll all come together sometime in early august or late july. then ill buy the gpu when maxwell comes out.

You don't have the money? Then grab the market by the throat and squeeze it till it gives you it.

Will z97 support DDR4? I feel like that won't be here till skylake

The market doesn't respond well to threats. I've got some capital trapped in a bad position right now.

I don't think it'll have DDR4 support, I'm sure that'll come with skylake.

It doesn't matter. At all. DDR3 is still plenty fast for consumer grade cpus, DDR4 will only be useful in extreme computing scenarios for another few years.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Figures, not like we'll even have things that'll use it for another 4 years

Dangerous? To a extent, I have loss mitigation and about 90% of all transactions I make a profits. However If I make a bad move quite a bit of my money is stuck for a long time. And I'm currently in one of those situations, if it was anyone else I'd assume they'd go crazy and starts selling...
