Is a Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Dual-X good enough for high settings with 1080p on most new titles or will I have to spend a bit more and get a 

GTX 780?

R9 280x is good enough, well not only good enough...it is very a good card :)

wait for gtx 880 to come out
