I was an amd gpu guy until now. Got an rtx 5060 ti and noticed that are two programs for driver, nvidia app and nvidia control panel.

i usualy closed the amd adrenalin before start a game but this time i forgot do close this nvidia control panel. I know this is a dumb

question for most of you, but doing this could affect the visuals in my games or the desktop area. Please be respectful, this is a sincere question.

Having Nvidia Control Panel open will not affect your games or desktop area in any way shape or form.

You can also close it if you want, it has no effect on performance either.

The only way it will affect anything is if you make any adjustments or changes in the control panel.

NVCP (Nvidia Control Panel) is in a state of flux at the moment. Its been the same way for decades until they announced GeForce Experience that added some "other" features that they didn't want to include in the ancient NVCP.

Fast forward to today, GFE is dead, replaced with the Nvidia app however the Nvidia App will also include all the functionality from the old and horrible to use NVCP. This transition isn't fully complete yet but most of the features people need to use NVCP for can now be found in the Nvidia App.

Eventually, NVCP will just go away completely but for now, its completely harmless and frankly trying to run an Nvidia card without it just results in annoying popups. Just leave it to do its thing but you never have to open it. Clicking the Nvidia logo in the system tray should open the NVApp now instead.
