Split on what CPU to get

Go to solution Solved by Brexy9,

Hey guys thanks for the replies, but at the end I pulled the trigger on the 9800X3D since I got it for 430 euros and personal pickup 15min away from my apartment on friday so I wont have to wait like 10 days for the CPU to arrive. Thanks for the suggestions but I went with the 9800X3D since rn I have the 7800XT but I want this baby to last until my next GPU so I got the better one for more longevity and I think when I turn on FSR the difference will be much more noticable since it's on a lower rez image. Thanks ❤️

Hey guys, so I'm deciding whether to pull the trigger on the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 7600X3D or 9800X3D for 1440p gaming. I currently have my Ryzen 5 3600 and it's paired up with my RX 7800 XT that I got last year, now I got an Asus TUF B850M, 32gb kit of 6000mts ram and a lian li galahad AIO but I'm split on what CPU to get since I want to run games for at least the next 4 years and not worry about low FPS issues and idk is it just me thinking something last gen like Ryzen 7000 is bad but Idk will the 9800X3D outlive the 7800xd and 7600x3d for a year or two longer for another GPU upgrade. The prices are as follows : 9800X3D : 430 Euros, 7800X3D : 330 Euros and 7600X3D : 290 Euros

At 1440p it doesn't really matter that much.

At 1080p the 9800X3D will be quite a bit faster than the 7600X3D.

I dont think you have to worry about low FPS with either CPU at 1440p, your GPU is the limiting factor here.

I would get the 7800X3D over the 7600X3D for only 40 bucks more.

As said above, all will perform admirably at 1440p.  Check reviews on Youtube.

If I were you, I would get the 7800X3D, as it's worth more than 40 over the 7600X3D but the 9800X3D isn't worth 100 more at 1440p.

But if you want peace of mind then get the 9800X3D as 100 over the full system price isn't impactful.

You can rationalize it either way, your call.

Best value is 7800X3D imo

7600X3D price is too high, you lose 2 cores for only 40EUR less, it'll be ok at 250EUR or less

9800X3D is 30%% more expensive for maybe 15% better perf if not GPU limited, which will happen in many games at 1440p on a 7800X3D

Obviously the 9800X3D is the fastest, but certainly not the best deal. Since you're doing 1440p, the CPU is less of a bottleneck here. It looks like the 7800X3D is best, given that it's only 40eu above the 6 core 7600X3D and 100eu cheaper than the 9800X3D.
